Artwork
File Formats
We accept files from most graphic design software, including:
- Adobe Illustrator CS3 (.ai)
- Adobe Photoshop CS3 (.psd)
- Adobe In Design CS3 (.indd)
- QuarkXpress 7 (.qxd)
We can also accept files in the following formats:
- .eps
- .pdf
- .jpg (as long as it is high resolution of at least 300dpi)
- .tif
We can also accept files from the programs listed below, but these programs may not provide you
with the quality that you would like. We strongly urge you to use a design or layout program such as one of the Adobe products.
- Microsoft Publisher
- Microsoft Word
- Microsoft PowerPoint
If you are using one of these programs please try to convert your file to a pdf. You can download a free pdf creator here.
Please submit any fonts and images you used in your file as well. There may be a delay or design charges if we cannot get your
file to open correctly.
If you do not see your file type listed, please give us a call and we will be happy to discuss options regarding your artwork submission.
General Guidelines
Resolution – All images used in your art file should be at least 300dpi (dots per inch).
Images with a resolution lower than 300dpi may cause the image to look blurry or pixilated.
Images taken from the internet are typically at a resolution of 72dpi. This works well to display on your computer monitor,
but this resolution is too low to produce a quality printed piece. There are exceptions to this, such as if your image came
from a stock image site or something similar. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions on your image.
See images below.
Bleed – All art files need to have .125” (1/8”) bleed on all sides.
Your submitted file should be .25” (1/4”) larger than the product size that you are purchasing
(i.e. 4”x6” postcard would require a 4.25” x 6.25” art file).
Safe Area – Any images or text critical to your design should not extend past the safe area, which is .125” (1/8”)
inside the cut line to avoid being cut off when the finished piece is trimmed.
Full Color – Art files that are submitted should be saved in CMYK to help ensure color accuracy.
Any files submitted as RGB or PMS colors will be converted to CMYK and there may be some color shifts due to
variances in the color modes (illustrated in the images below). Please see our glossary for definitions of CMYK, RGB and PMS.
Spot Color – Art files should be submitted in PMS colors with PMS numbers provided.
Fonts – If you are working in a vector program such as Illustrator, Freehand, or CorelDraw,
all text must be converted to outlines or paths depending on your program. If you are using a different program,
please submit all fonts used in your file with your artwork.

Details Concerning Color Reproduction
Gang-Run Printing refers to the specialization in supplying customers with affordable four-color printing.
Utilizing this method known as "Gang-Running", combines your short-run jobs with others having similar requirements.
This allows the initial production costs to be spread out over several jobs, greatly reducing the make-ready charges for each customer.
All work is carried out by skilled professional on state-of-the-art equipment to assure you quality work at affordable prices.
But Gang Run Printing has its Limitations...
Because of limitations with the Gang-Run printing process, as well as neighboring image ink requirements,
the accuracy of color reproduction is not guaranteed. By placing and order with Augustin Printing & Design Services you agree to this limitation.
We accept no responsibility for color variations between submitted files and the final printed piece.
Under no circumstances will a reprint be honored for color variations that have occurred during the printing process.
We will show you an online proof of your job shortly after receiving it in our production department,
but actual time will vary depending on our current workload. No job will be sent to press without your approval,
so please reply as quickly as possible. Please take note that an on-line proof is by no means an accurate color
reproduction of your final printed piece but is a final opportunity for you to check the layout, bleeds, crops and final text.
If you determine that you need to submit new files after we have shown you an online proof, you can do so by replying to
the email we sent to you with your proofs. You will be instructed on how to reupload your files.
But due to the time it takes to pre-flight and prep your files, a $25 fee will be assessed each time you submit new artwork.
If you need to submit new files because the original files are corrupt or not suitable for printing, you will not be charged.
By the time your job gets in our hands and we are ready to go to print, all edits should be finalized,
the copy carefully proofread and all design issues should be settled. We will not take responsibility for any copy or
design errors committed on your part. Augustin Printing & Design Services is also not responsible for any wrong dates or misspelled words in
files submitted by customer or jobs approved by customer upon design completion.
